Monday evening was a wild evening in the NBA Playoffs with the Spurs losing, the Mavericks winning, and the Nuggets coming back from the dead to at last win a match.

The second round of the Western Conference playoffs continues to be quite murky, and we could have pretty a number of lower seed progressing. Let’s take a look at the competitions from last night’s NBA action.

In the first competition of the evening, the Spurs were keeping a lid on the Memphis Grizzlies for the first half of the competition. But then after halftime, the Grizzlies came out and outscored the Spurs 30-15 and went on to win the game 104-86. The Spurs are now one competition away from being eliminated by the eighth seed. If the Grizzlies can accomplish one more win, they are going to become just the fourth No. 8 team in NBA history to knock off the No. 1 seed.

The second competition of the evening featured the Dallas Mavericks taking out the Trailblazers in yet another hard-fought fight, winning 93-82. Everybody anticipated this to be a difficult series for either team, and it is shaping up that way. Dallas is now up 3 competitions to 2, and came back from their fourth-quarter meltdown in Game Four. The Blazers will be trying to steer clear of elimination or at least push the series to a determining Game Seven.

Finally, the Nuggets got a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, going 104-101. The Nuggets are still down 3 competitions to one, but at least averted the sweep. Can they become the first team ever to fight back from a 3-0 deficit? Almost certainly not. But if they start hitting their shots greater, and making their free throws, they’ve got a quality potential for prolonging this series. And to think – the Nuggets were one time supposed to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder from the playoffs.

It appears like the lowest seed – the OKC Oklahoma City Thunder – are having the easiest time of it in the first round of the playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks are up 3-2 over the Trail Blazers, and everybody anticipated this series to go on for a short time. But what is happening to the Spurs, losing 3 competitions to a team that until this year had not won just one playoff competition in its franchise history?
